Martinez California is in the county seat of Contra Costa County, in the San Francisco East Bay Area. It’s central location makes it close to everything the East Bay has to offer. The city is famous for its large number of preserved old building and antique shops. But even more than that, it’s a great place to raise a family!
This small city has a mild Mediterranean climate, and usually the summer days are warm and dry. But there can be some beautiful morning fog along with cold sea breezes. Winter days become wet and cool, with occasional frosts or snowfall. With such mild weather, it’s a great place for kids and adults to play outside all year.
The Martinez Unified School District encompasses four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and two alternative/independent study schools. Part of the city is served by the Mount Diablo Unified School District. Hidden Valley Elementary School and St. Catherine of Siena School, a private Roman Catholic elementary, also serve students here.
The Martinez Library is part of the Contra Costa County Library system, which also has a Library Administration office here. The library serves as a vibrant place to gather for kids’ and adults’ community events. The Art Deco style Martinez Library was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in early 2008.
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center’s Martinez location is full-service, with a dental clinic, emergency room, and all the same services you’d expect at a large hospital.
Raising family here is a great way to set them up for thriving futures. The stellar education system, temperate climate and weather, and welcoming downtown can set the stage for an especially great childhood. So if you’re looking for a new city, look into Martinez.
